13th January 2009 - childrens centres
Parents and carers of young children in the Borough can now find services near them with ease following the publication of the Council’s Children Centres booklet.
The booklet provides details of all 14 centres throughout Waltham Forest - including their locations and individual services and facilities - as well as further details on local partner agencies and future programmes.
Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Cllr Chris Robbins, met with staff and parents as he visited three of the Borough’s centres to promote the booklet.
"Waltham Forest’s 14 children centres should be seen as hubs in their local communities,”
Cllr Robbins said.
They offer not only the very highest standards of childcare, but education, health and jobs advice for parents too; numerous support groups and in some cases, sexual health information for teenagers.
This booklet lists all this information and will allow parents of young children particularly, to benefit from services close to them.”
The centres are open to every child up to five years old within the Borough, but most centres do require registration. Booklets are now available from numerous outlets across Waltham Forest including libraries, GPs, Whipps Cross Hospital maternity section and children centres.
