Chris Robbins has been a councillor for Grove Green Ward in Waltham Forest since May 2002. Chris has lived in Leyton for more than 30 years.
Chris has two daughters . Victoria is at Kings College, London University and his eldest ,Emma lives in Sandhurst with David and has two children ,Anya and Thomas.
Chris was born in 1945 and was brought up in Bethnal Green. He has spent all his life in East London and since 1978 had been a full-time trade union official for 4 unions.Chris retired early in 2005 to concentrate on his councillor responsibilities
Chris has been an active member of the Labour Party since he joined over 30 years ago in Leyton. He stood unsuccesfully for the Greater London Assembly for Redbridge and Havering in 2000 and then became the Chair of the London Labour Party for a two year period until November 2002.
Chris was a candidate in the Leyton Ward in 1998 but was not successful.
For his first 4 years as councillor Chris held the cabinet post for Lifelong Learning. The residents of Grove Green Ward returned Chris as their councillor in 2006 with an increased majority.
Chris is now cabinet member for Children and Young people's Service .
